hmm

i am suprised i have said nothing about the bush - tsunami relief issue. It's like my debating side has vanished, actually i am just sick of america at the moment, even though i will NEVER admit it in person. Good old pride. Actually i do have something to say now, i think the reason bush isn't giving aid is because of all the money he has spent and plans to spend in iraq, and a huge deficit will look quite shoddy to those republican supporters of his. I think it's unfortunate, but you can't argue that he's really bound to do anything. It would be the morally right thing, but he doesn't have to do anything. which is sad, the whole thing is sad. done on that now, i apologize for continuing it.

religion:
i don't agree that religion is something that just "got popular." Sure stars have made a fad out of kabbali (?) and such, but religion itself has been around as long as we have had recorded history, probably longer. And about it revolving around hatred and fear, thats what certain people have made it, but then people can pretty much make anything about hatred and fear, its not a quality synomnouse with religion itself.

It seems to me that at it's best religion embodies some of the best things humanity can strive for, peace, love, charity...and its true that at it's worst it can reflect the worst of humanity.

Of course i think religion itself is just a framework, some people need structure. But it's essence, faith and god is really what we make it.

and before catholicism gets the finger, take a look at the muslim or mormon religions. No religion is really perfect i guess, but then no person is either. Besides it can be comforting to believe that there is something greater then yourself out there, it would be pretty depressing if man actually was the closest thing to god.
