2004-11-20 - 10:18 p.m. The easter bunny vs jesus issue: I used to know actuall names/facts for this but I hath long forgotton so exuse my vagueness: The reason that the "easter bunny" seems so disconnected from the Christian idea of Easter is because it is a totally unrealted holiday. The easter bunny actually is derived from a (here's where it gets rough) fertility holiday. Spring is (obviously) a season where most breeding occurrs and in many cultures this idea is celebrated. The whole bunny/egg thing has to do with that...not Jesus. Thar she blows. |
